RONRONNE, ALUNYA -- The Clowder, the Nation Football Squad of the Constitutional Monarchy and Kingdom of Alunya, fell 2-1 to the national team from Kialga. The visiting Clowder team failed to score until the eighty-eighth (international) minute, and that against substitutes given playing time as the play by the Kialga team was unassailable. Kialga scored in the sixth and fifty-first minutes establishing dominance over the hapless Alunyan squad.

Asked about the team's execution, Coach Emilio Altieri growled, "That would be a damn good idea!"

The Kialga forwards adroitly avoided the powerful defense of Prospero Lambertini and Michelangelo de’ Conti on the left side of the Alunyan defense. Instead on both of their scoring drives they deftly maneuvered past midfielder Lorenzo Corsini and between defenders Pietro Ottoboni and Giovanni Albani to score on a sorely tried Benedetto Odescalchi, captain and goalkeeper of the Clowder. With de’ Conti avoided, only Kalico Kat Antonio Pignatelli was of any assistance to the beleagured goalie.

The offense was in equal dissarray. The only score came off the left foot of the young Liverfool star, Achille Ratti, who was a late game substitution for the thoroughly winded Giovanni Ganganelli. Alunyan fans lucky enough to score tickets to the match were overheard to jibe other Alunyans about the efficacy of the two players. The youngster of the Liverfool Leopards bested the old master of the Ronronne Lions, a moment not lost on those who came from Alunya's two capitol cities. "If only it was an even day," said one fan, "Then Altieri might have started the Leopard instead!"

On Wed., Jan. 29th, the Clowder will take on the national team of the Noble Republican Empire of Amerika at the latter's home field. Altieri, asked to comment on the game, said "Yes, there will certainly be some changes to the starting roster. We cannot afford to drop games in this manner in an international contest. You will see improvement."
